2026 BOAT FINANCING GUIDE

HOW BOAT FINANCING CAN WORK.

The examples below describe possibilities in the current marine-financing market. They are educational and are not terms offered or guaranteed by Nashville Boating Center.

01

180 TO 240 MONTHS MAY BE POSSIBLE

Long marine-loan terms can reach 180 months, and some current programs extend to 240 months for qualifying boats, financed amounts, and borrowers. A 20-year term is not available for every purchase.

02

10% TO 20% DOWN IS A COMMON PLANNING RANGE

Marine-financing education commonly uses 10% to 20% of the purchase price as a planning range. An actual program may require less, more, or no down payment based on its underwriting rules.

03

THE BOAT AND BORROWER BOTH MATTER

The credit profile, debt-to-income, loan-to-value, boat age, model year, amount financed, collateral, lender, and state can all change the available terms and required documentation.

04

A LONGER TERM CHANGES THE TOTAL COST

Extending the repayment period can reduce the estimated monthly payment, but it can also increase the total interest paid over the life of the loan. Compare both numbers before choosing a structure.

COMMON STRUCTURES

THE LOAN CAN
BE BUILT DIFFERENTLY.

01

SECURED MARINE LOAN

The boat is collateral. Programs may consider the boat's age, value, type, condition, loan amount, and survey or documentation requirements.

02

UNSECURED OR PERSONAL LOAN

The boat may not serve as collateral, but loan amounts, terms, and rates can differ from a dedicated marine-loan program.

FINANCING FAQ

FINANCING
QUESTIONS.

Does the calculator check my credit?

No. It performs a local mathematical estimate in your browser and does not perform a credit inquiry.

Is the APR shown an NBC rate?

No APR is prefilled. Any APR you enter is your own illustrative assumption, not an offer or representation of availability.

Does an inquiry mean I am preapproved?

No. A general inquiry is not an application, preapproval, approval, or commitment to lend.

Where should I share sensitive financial information?

Only through the secure application link our team provides. Never place Social Security numbers, income, or account details in a general message.

Why might the actual payment differ?

Provider decisions, verified APR and term, down payment, amount financed, taxes, fees, trade details, boat eligibility, and final documents can all change the result.
